According to Evolution Securities, Spanish Banks are to take USD 113bln hit on property

Spanish lenders will have to absorb a further EUR 84bln (USD 113bln) of impairments related to property developers while savings banks may need as much as EUR 50bln of new capital, Evolution Securities said.
Of the future impairments for real estate and construction,
EUR 66bln relate to savings banks, a team of analysts, led by Arturo de Frias in London, wrote in a report published today. The brokerage said total future impairments on all types of loans may reach EUR 142bln, with savings banks accounting for EUR 83bln.
“These are the most bearish estimates ever, well above Bank of Spain’s stress tests and similar to Irish losses,”
according to the analysts.
