What assets hold sway in the portfolios of the world’s high-net-worth population? The 2010 “Wealth Report” by London-based real-estate company Knight Frank and Citi Private Bank, provides an indication.
The U.S.-dollar-equivalent millionaires from around the world who took part in the Knight Frank survey said property accounted for, on average, a good third of their holdings. Next came equities, which made up a quarter of their assets, cash (17%), bonds (13%), hedge funds (6%), derivatives (1%) and - making up just 0.5% of their portfolios - gold.
