Mal dia hoy para todos los accionistas de ArcelorMittal quizas haya afectado esta noticia negativa: http://www.dailysabah.com/money/2016/08/22/steel-giant-arcelormittal-to-pay-110-million-fine-in-south-africe-price-fixing-case Steel giant ArcelorMittal to pay $110 million fine in South Africe price fixing case FRENCH PRESS AGENCY - AFP JOHANNESBURG Published 4 hours ago Steelmaker ArcelorMittal has agreed to pay a $110-million (88-million-euro) fine for illegal price fixing in South Africa, the country's competition watchdog announced Monday. The Competition Commission launched a probe into steel producers in the country in 2008 following concerns around high steel prices, and found that the company colluded with its competitors in "fixing" prices and allocating customers. The company "admits having been involved in the long steel and scrap metal cartels, and agrees to pay an administrative penalty of 1.5 billion rand" ($110 million), it said in a statement. The local unit of the company will pay the fine in five annual instalments of at least 300 million rand each. The South African government said it welcomed the punishment of the country's largest steel maker in what it ranked the "largest single" fine imposed so far against an individual firm by the competition authorities. "The action by the competition authorities is part of a crackdown against abuse of market power and price-fixing that undermine the performance of the economy," Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel said in a statement. The watchdog's chief commissioner Tembinkosi Bonakele said the "penalty sends a strong message of deterrence and is an important milestone in the Commission's enforcement against cartels". ArcelorMittal South Africa is the continent's largest steel producer, supplying more than 61 percent of the steel used in Africa's most industrialized country.

Esperanzadoras noticias desde china: http://blogs.barrons.com/asiastocks/2016/08/16/china-steel-futures-soar-back-to-april-high-as-tangshan-vows-supply-cuts/ China Steel Futures Soar Back To April High As Tangshan Vows Supply Cuts 1 By Shuli Ren China’s industrial metals futures, from steel to iron ore, have rebounded this summer. Rebar futures, the most traded in China, soared 4% to 2,654 yuan per tonne ($402) today, its highest since April 25. Hot-rolled steel futures jumped 4.1% to 2,831 yuan per tonne, also hitting the year-to-date high we saw in late April. Tangshan, a major steel production hub in the north of China, re-iterated its call for supply cuts today, saying it intends to cut steel capacity by 40 million tonnes by the end of next year. Tangshan also said it would slash production by 30-50% starting today through the rest of August to curb pollution in the area. The rally in steel futures also lifted iron ore futures, which rose 3% today. This is great news for Australia’s iron ore miners. Year-to-date, Fortescue Metals Group (FMG.Australia) has soared 154.5%, BHP Billiton (BHP.Australia/BHP) has gained 19.4%, Rio Tinto (RIO.Australia/RIO) is up 14.5%.

By David Lawder The U.S. Commerce Department on Friday set final anti-dumping duties on hot-rolled flat steel from Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Britain, Brazil, the Netherlands and Australia on Friday, locking in import taxes of 3.7 percent to about 34.3 percent for five years. The ruling, which could still be overturned by the U.S. International Trade Commission, is the latest in a series of U.S. actions aimed at fighting a glut of steel imports as China's economy slows and demand remains weak elsewhere. The department also imposed final anti-subsidy duties of 3.9 to 11.3 percent against most steelmakers in Brazil, Turkey and South Korea, but slapped 57 percent anti-subsidy duties on top Korean steelmaker POSCO (005490.KS) and Daewoo International Corp. The final duty rates follow preliminary determinations in January and March. The highest anti-dumping taxes of 34.3 percent were imposed against Brazil's Usiminas (USIM5.SA), with all other Brazilian producers facing 33.1 percent margins and just over 11 percent anti-subsidy duties. The Brazlian government has threatened to challenge the U.S. duties before the World Trade Organization. Britain's Tata Steel UK (TISC.NS) saw its U.S. anti-dumping margin reduced from nearly 50 percent in the preliminary finding to about 33 percent, while Tata Steel's Netherlands operations faces final dumping duties of 3.73 percent. Used in automotive applications, construction, tubing and heavy machinery, hot-rolled steel imports from the seven countries more than doubled to nearly $2 billion (£1.5 billion) last year, with the largest share, about $650 million, coming from South Korea. The International Trade Commission is due to decide by late September whether the imports from these countries were unfairly traded and had caused injury to domestic producers. At a hearing on the issue on Thursday before the commission, American steel executives argued that Chinese mills were overproducing steel of all types, causing a global supply glut that has prompted steelmakers elsewhere sell hot-rolled product below cost into the United States, the only market with significant demand. This caused prices to plunge and several U.S. steel mills to be idled last year. "Globally, demand for steel is very anaemic. There is every incentive in the world for foreign producers to ship product --dump product -- into the United States," said Richard Blume, general manager of U.S. steelmaker Nucor Corp (NUE.N) "Basically, they are exporting their unemployment to the U.S." South Korean steel producers argued in briefs in the case that imports were not to blame for the hot-rolled price drop in the United States. Instead, they said the lower prices were due to falling demand for oil drilling pipe, lower raw material costs, and shipping bottlenecks that caused West Coast industries to turn to Asian suppliers.

EFECOM

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-08-04/china-russia-hit-with-5-year-eu-anti-dumping-tariffs-on-steel China, Russia Hit With 5-Year EU Anti-Dumping Tariffs on Steel Jones Hayden August 4, 2016 — 12:23 PM CEST Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Don't Miss Out — Follow Bloomberg On Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube EU sets levies as high as 36.1% on cold-rolled products Definitive duties set after provisional measure in February Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on Reddit Share on Google+ E-mail Chinese and Russian producers of non-stainless steels were hit by the European Union with five-year tariffs as high as 36.1 percent after the EU found that imports from the two countries unfairly undercut manufacturers in Europe such as ThyssenKrupp AG and ArcelorMittal. Close all those tabs. Open this email. Get Bloomberg's daily newsletter. The definitive duties punish Russian and Chinese exporters of certain cold-rolled flat products of iron or non-alloy steel for allegedly selling the goods in the EU’s 4.5 billion-euro ($5 billion) market below cost, a practice known as dumping. The targeted producers of this kind of steel -- used in products from washing machines and air-conditioning equipment to automobiles and power lines -- include Russia’s Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works OJSC, Novolipetsk Steel OJSC and Severstal PJSC; and China’s Angang Steel Co. and Shougang group. The definitive five-year duties, which will take effect on Friday, follow the imposition of six-month, provisional levies in February. These tariffs “will also be levied retroactively on imports registered during the two months that preceded the adoption of provisional measures on Feb. 12,” the European Commission, the 28-nation bloc’s trade authority in Brussels, said in a statement on Thursday. EU-based manufacturers suffered “material injury” as a result of dumped imports from Russia and China, the commission said in a notice in the Official Journal. The duties are the outcome of a probe that the EU opened in May 2015 following a dumping complaint by European steel industry group Eurofer. Russian and Chinese exporters expanded their combined share of the European market for certain cold-rolled flat products of iron or non-alloy steel, excluding stainless steel, to 20.1 percent in the 12 months through March 2015 from 14.3 percent in 2011, according to the commission. Russia’s share jumped to 9.8 percent from 5.9 percent over the period, it said. The levies against Russia range from 18.7 percent to 36.1 percent and those against China range from 19.7 percent to 22.1 percent, depending on the company.
