Ireland’s spreads were wider as the market reacted to the near collapse of the current Fianna Fail/Green coalition government. Prime Minister resigned as Fianna Fail leader – but not PM – over the weekend, prompting the Green Party to pull out of the coalition. It now appears likely that all the major parties will agree to support the swift passing of the finance bill – a precondition for the EU and IMF bailout – in return for bringing the date of the general election forward from the current March 11. Fianna Fail is now running a minority administration, so it seems that it has little choice but to agree to the demands of the opposition parties. A cathartic election will be welcomed by most Irish citizens and perhaps by the markets, though it does introduce uncertainty on whether the new administration will roll back on some of the austerity measures insisted on by the EU/IMF.

Parece que las condiciones tanto de EUA como Europa ha hecho saltar otra vez las preocupaciones sobre el riesgo. Esto aún no se acaba.
Por parte de EUA varios reportes de indicadores económicos han fallado las expectativas, desde el GDP hasta los bienes perecederos
En mi opinión las caídas actuales podrían responder a un descuento anticipado del fin del QE2, así que a finales del próximo mes cuando éste acabe podría haber algún tipo de repunte, ya sabemos como dice el dicho: compra en el rumor vende con la noticia. Sin olvidar el asunto del Budget.

It may have something to do with the belief that officials seem focused on taking steps to avoid triggering CDS even if there is a restructuring of some sort. It is widely believed that a voluntary restructuring would not trigger CDS contracts. It could also be that the market is pricing in a maturity extension or other measure that would help buy the country more time.
Regardless, elevated levels for both the 1Y and 5Y CDS signify that investors believe that the probability of a default or restructuring that will ultimately trigger CDS is high. At quoted spreads and recovery rates, the cumulative probability of default through five years is 74% using standard industry models.
