Nutmeg Stamp Sales, Escala's catalogue sales company, conducted three major auctions in June that realized approximately $1.5 million in aggregate sales, a new monthly sales record for Nutmeg. Greg Manning Auctions held two collection sales on June 24 that realized over $3.5 million in sales. In addition, the firm's auction held in Hong Kong on June 24-25 realized well over $1.3 million in aggregate sales. All prices quoted include the Buyer's Premium.

Greg Martin Auctions Introduces Real-time Online Bidding

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 2006--Escala Group (Nasdaq: ESCL - News), a global collectibles company in stamps, coins, and art and antiques, today announced that Greg Martin Auctions achieved over $2.47 million at its sale conducted June 26 and 27. The summer auction featured over 1,800 lots of fine antique and collectible arms, armor and sporting guns from various estates and private collections from around the country. As the company launching Escala's art and antiques division in fiscal 2006, Greg Martin Auctions completes a prolific first year under Escala with auctions of high-profile collections.
At the June sale, Greg Martin Auctions introduced real-time, internet bidding through Proxibid, which allowed potential buyers to participate live with the onsite bidding process. Online bidders were able to view a photo of each item as it went up for sale, to hear the bidding as it occurred in the auction gallery, and to place real-time bids as selling was underway.

$181,600 - Rare and Historic Triple Factory Engraved Presentation Cased Colt Ensemble from Samuel Colt to Hugh Rose, Esq. containing an engraved 1849 pocket, deluxe engraved 1851 Navy, and an engraved 1855 Root Sidehammer Revolver, complete with all accessories and authenticating documents. A Captain in the Confederate Army, Hugh Rose was a close friend of Samuel Colt, important enough that Rose was included as a witness and signator on Colt's final will and testament. (Lot 1103)

Escala Group Reports Aggregate Sales of $3.7 Million From Bowers and Merena Auction

First Auction of Fiscal 2007 Sees Strong Demand from On-site, Internet and Telephone Bidders

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 2006--Escala Group (Nasdaq: ESCL - News), a global collectibles company in stamps, coins, and art and antiques, today announced the aggregate sales results for its first auction conducted in fiscal 2007. Bowers and Merena Auctions, part of Escala's Spectrum Numismatics division, achieved over $3.7 million, including the buyer's premium, at its sale conducted July 13 and 14, 2006, as the official auctioneer of the Baltimore, Maryland Coin and Currency Convention.

The sale featured 1490 auction lots of rare and high-grade United States coins, many from pedigreed collections. Highlights of the sale included an Indian Head/Buffalo nickel struck in 1926 at the San Francisco Mint (graded MS-65 by Professional Coin Grading Service) that brought $116,150, and a 1930 San Francisco Mint Double Eagle ($20 denomination) gold coin (graded MS-65 by PCGS) featuring a famous early 20th century design by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens that sold for $201,250.
